Drill at 6:30 a.m. I quite enjoyed it. I took the squad. More lectures, filling in forms, etc. Played soccer for the school against the 5th Gurkhas; quite an enjoyable game, won 4-2. They are amusing chaps, but make fine soldiers. The ground was in a magnificent setting, green fields, hills all around, rather like Tintern [a village and community on the west bank of the River Wye in Monmouthshire, Wales] only higher hills. Went to bed, tired as usual.
