Eighty years ago today Sunday 10 August 1941

Went to morning service. Finishing letter home now. Went to Bazaar in the afternoon, had quite a look around, bought stuff for a shirt to go with serge and also 3 yards of white silk at 12 annas, good for tennis shirt. Also bought a tin trunk at INR12 – I have such a lot of clothes now. Went to evening service which was [in] recognition of a local preacher just leaving for Africa.
