Eighty years ago today Saturday 9 August 1941

 PT then four periods of Panorama Drawing. Things are slackening up now. No good pictures this weekend so I decided not to go. Played tennis instead and now intend to start a letter home.

Went to Mess, read a little and then bed.

  Not so early getting up; feeling very dirty from dust and smoke of the train had chota hazri , no breakfast. Fine train, three fans to our compartment, shower, bath, etc. Passed through Delhi last night, must be very interesting. On and on, little change except for an occasional station. Eighty years ago today Saturday 2 August 1941

We had not undressed since we had arrived and had had very little sleep, so we were glad to roll up the tents and stack all equipment. At 9:00 a.m. we went off on another Forest Warfare scheme until lunch and at 2:00 p.m. arrived back in Bangalore, a dirty, dishevelled party. Unfortunately, we had to attend a lecture on ‘Eritrea’, which was made even worse as a terrific deluge made us wet through. Bed at 7:00 p.m.
