Eighty years ago today Monday 25 August 1941
Up at 8:00 a.m. Had to report to Army HQ at 10:00 a.m. Introduced to my Commanding Officer (CO), Major Tree, who helped us a good deal getting railway forms etc. and getting more TA. Actually, I think we shall now have to return some money. Had lunch here with the Major. After a busy afternoon at the station and packing, etc. I was ready to move off, tired and fed up with Bombay. It’s hopeless trying to enjoy leave when you know no one, especially as an officer who has not been introduced to the elite and cannot fraternise with anyone.
