Expected a MR test, but fortunately the Brigadier decided to give a lecture on ‘Appreciation and Plans’, which prevented it. Instead we did ‘panorama sketching’ in a MR period. Went out on ‘convoy work’ in lorries. In the afternoon I went to the Imperial Hat Works and ordered tailored barathea [most likely a uniform], INR23/8; nearly breaks my heart to spend all that money; but can’t be avoided. My outfit allowance would make Mam comfortable for a year.
