Eighty years ago today Tuesday 10 June 1941
Awoke about 6:00 a.m. by habit. Slept again until 7:45 a.m. and called for tea as told and had splendid tea and fruit. Down for breakfast at 9:00 a.m. We had five room servants to do everything. Great view to the valley from the bungalow. Fine breakfast, then went with Mr Clarke to see rubber manufacture from tree to finished crepe. A very interesting procedure – milky liquid tapped by coolies, carried to works, solidified by addition of acetic acid, rolled, shredded, rolled, etc. Went to club in the evening. To bed at 11:30 p.m. Good day.
