Arose as usual and after breakfast went with Mr Clarke through the jungle to climb from 1,000 to 3,000 feet. We saw nothing alarming, monkeys and a couple of snakes. It was quite cold on top although hot in the valley. The view was magnificent; miles of hills covered with jungle, rubber and tea. On the return journey we killed a Russel’s viper, one of the deadliest in India. In the evening went to the club and drank more beer.
